London: My First Trip Away From Baby

I haven’t been separated from my baby daughter since she was born, and this weekend will mark a milestone. I am going to London with my BFF for three days. We have known each other since we were girls, and we have been going to London for years. I moved in London at the age of 20 and then again in 2009 to attend university. We know London well enough to go for very short visits and skip the sight seeing. We shop til we drop, we dance like no one’s watching , and we go home happy.

But it is going to be very different this time…I am a mother, and I have a tiny little one who will be wondering where her Mama is.  My heart hurts at the thought of being away from her for so long…I even thought of cancelling but I need to do this.

It is going to be lots of fun and I will take a million pictures !

How did you survive your first trip away sans baby?

  1. Have fun for old time’s sake and eat a cupcake for me! And I’m sure your gorgeous baby will be spending a wonderful time too. You will enjoy seeing her again even more 🙂

  2. Comment on your previous post too: 12. Reading your blog. (and I really mean it)

To be mentioned in the blog and to see that you care for me.

We will have a great time ma Débo (we need to talk!!). Voir les photos de Sixtine me fendent le coeur though. J’ai hâte de la revoir…..

I’ll be in London this weekend too!! Hubs, HJ and I are arriving Saturday morning and staying until Tuesday…. =) Hopefully the weather turns itself around. Have a great girls weekend, all mommas need a holiday!!

Go and have a great time! Even though it will be hard to be away from her you need some time to decompress and just be yourself rather than always having to be mommy. Have lots of fun!

  5. I left my daughter for 3 days when she was 5 months old. I missed her like crazy but my husband and myself got some couple-time which I loved 🙂 As long as you’ll be leaving her in safe hands, don’t worry too much. Enjoy your time in a cloudy and rainy London :/ Don’t forget your wellies!!

  6. I know I always say this but she’s so beautiful ♥
    Have fun in London!

  7. I left my almost one-year-old at the time for one night. Sadly it didn’t go so well. We were all supposed to stay at a hotel after a wedding that I was a bridesmaid in, but our little guy was so fussy that my husband just drove home and I stayed at the hotel by myself. You would think that would be nice to sleep in a hotel and wake up later than 6:30, but I actually had to wake up even *earlier* (at 5:30!!) so that I could leave before rush hour started. Sigh…

  8. It is healthy to have a little separation and have some girl time. Enjoy shopping without a screaming infant, and sit and have a few drinks without feeling guilty.

  9. I think I’ve said this before, but you definitely need to lead a life outside of being a mom. Enjoy! Your photos of your daughter are beautiful as always.

Let us know how it worked out. Have fun!

  11. Have fun!!!!!

  12. Sorry to report that we are having miserable wet weather and there’s a chilly wind coming in for the weekend – a typical British bank holiday! I’m sure you’ll still have a fab time with your friend though. My advice is get out of the rain and have a ‘Rock n’ Roll afternoon tea’ at the new W Hotel – it’s very funky! Enjoy…

  13. I haven’t left my little man yet (still nursing), but one of my best friends left for over a week when her baby was 9 months old. She said it was tough, but it made her appreciate her baby boy that much more. It got easier each day, and she talked to him quite a bit on the phone.

Have fun! I’m sure it will be a wonderful trip! I can’t wait to hear the update of how it goes. 🙂
